Hogwarts Dormitory
A reservation comes with a letter of admission from the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This letter would allow free access onto Platform 9 3/4 in King's Cross Station. Upon boarding the Hogwarts Express, students wearing prefect badges would lead them into private carriages. Luggage stowed in this carriage would not need to be unloaded by the passengers.
Alighting the train at Hogsmeade Station, the prefects would lead them away from the rest of the passengers and down a path that opens abruptly onto the edge of a great black lake. Piling into boats that run on underwater tracks, the fleet would set off across the lake and towards a rocky cliff on which towers the imposing edifice of Hogwarts Castle.
Tthe boats pass through a curtain of ivy hiding a wide opening in the cliff face, gliding along a dark tunnel until they dock at an underground harbor. Climbing out of the boats and up a rocky passageway, they would emerge in the shadow of the castle. Up a flight of stone steps would stand the huge, oak doors of the main entrance to the castle.
Crossing the huge entrance hall, its stone walls lit with flaming torches, and through a pair of double doors, newcomers would enter the Great Hall.
Lit overhead by floating candles are four long tables, where more prefects are seated in front large golden plates and platters, within which are hidden monitors of terminals connected to a registration system.
The dormitory is a hotel with four wings, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, each with a distinct advantage over the rest. Gryffindor rooms have the best view, Hufflepuff has the most spacious rooms, Ravenclaw affords the most privacy and Slytherin, the most luxurious appointments. After checking in, the new residents would be directed to approach an ancient looking wizard's hat. The hat would sport a split seam that opens and closes as it sings a little welcoming ditty. After the song, the hat would be lifted up to reveal signet rings bearing their House's coat-of-arms, one for each individual. A waiting prefect would lead them to the common room of their House. The prefect would inform the residents of the password and ask each of them to say it into a microphone hidden beside the closed door to the common room. The microphone is connected to a voice authentication system that records and verifies the identity of a House resident, before allowing them into the common room. Crossing the lounge-like common room and into corridors would gain them access to the bedrooms and suites. At their allocated room, pressing the signet ring into the tiny House emblem embossed on the door, would activate the chip embedded in the ring and unlock the door.Inside the room would be their luggage, discreetly transferred from their carriage on Hogwarts Express.
