Payphone Booths
Upon entering a red telephone box, which fits six adults comfortably, instructions to close the door would appear a a small screen above the phone. Once the door is closed, new instructions to pick up the telephone's handset and dial the MAGIC number.
Once the required sequence of numbers "62442" - code spelling MAGIC on a keypad - is correctly entered, a female voice would sound within the telephone box. The disembodied voice would ask for the names and intended business of the booth's occupants.
After the few minutes needed for a stamping press to emboss new words onto metal bits, square silver badges bearing the stated names and intentions would slide into the return coin slot of the payphone. As the female voice intones further instructions on wearing the badges and appropriate conduct, the telephone box would shudder and sink into the ground.
Working much like an elevator, the phone booth would descend slowly, before stopping and opening into the resplendent Atrium in the Ministry of Magic.
