Quidditch Pitch
Near the pitch would be the training grounds, where a Hogwarts Quidditch team is holding tryouts for prospective members. Aspiring players would learn that they can try out for the position of Chaser, Beater or Seeker. The position of Keeper has already been filled :)
Standing at the elevated end (starting point) of a long row of flying foxes (aerial ropeslides) would be team members dressed in the colours of their respective Houses. The training brooms for tryout use are attached to light-weight seating harnesses rigged to taut cables suspended in mid-air. With one end of the cable much higher than the other, gravity would propel the broom and its passenger at great speed towards the landing spot.
Those trying out for the position of Chaser would be given a foam Quaffle, which should be aimed and thrown towards a goal post they would zoom past during their rapid descend. Anybody who manages to score a goal would be handed an armband in the House's colours with a red Quaffle emblazoned on it.
Those trying out for the position of Beater would be given a foam Bat, which should be used to hit a suspended Bludger they would zoom past during their rapid descend. If the struck Bludger knocks down a target nearby, an armband in the House's colours, with a Bat emblazoned on it, would be handed to the person responsible.
Those trying out for the position of Seeker would aim to catch a dummy Snitch, kept afloat by a column of upward rushing air, they would zoom past during their rapid descend. If the Snitch is caught, an armband in the House's colours, with a Snitch emblazoned on it, would be handed to the catcher.
Those awarded armbands would then be directed towards the Quidditch Pitch, where they would be strapped onto speedier brooms for a trial on an actual playing field. With a sturdier harness and rig, the carriage becomes the car of a suspended roller coaster, where the students would race along aerial tracks routed to best test their chosen position on the team.
Aspiring Chasers, again armed with a foam Quaffle, would speed towards the goal posts, before turning sharply past them. The ride would make several passes at the goal posts at each side of the field. Strategically suspended team members would toss them Quaffles to catch if they happen to zoom past without one. If another Quaffle is not caught before the next pass at the goal posts, then rider would lose the chance to score another goal.
Aspiring Beaters, armed with a foam Bat, would speed past several swinging foam Bludgers and attempt to hit them accurately and hard enough to knock down nearby targets. Aspiring Seekers would race past tiny Snitches, all hovering in mid-air and extremely hard to spot and catch at such great speed.
If the aspiring players manage to achieve the requisite number of goals/targets/snitches, then they would be awarded a finely crafted replica of Quidditch gear, with the House emblem and colours emblazoned on it, a Quaffle for a Chaser, a Bat for a Beater and a Snitch for a Seeker.
Around the pitch would be bleaches for spectators to watch and cheer on the players. One side of the pitch faces a gate that opens to a well-travelled path leading into Hogsmeade Village. The other side faces the Forbidden Forest on one end and Hogwarts Castle on the other.
